Archival Quality Acrylic Sheet: A chemically inert, highly transparent sheet of specialized plastic (such as optium acrylic or non-glare Plexiglas) used to gently flatten warped documents, curled photo album pages, or unmounted prints on a copy stand. Because many historical photographs curl naturally over time, capturing them flat requires a heavy, uniform weight. Standard framing glass is often heavy enough but poses a major breaking risk over fragile originals and can cause heavy green color tints or blinding hot-spot reflections. A specialized archival acrylic sheet evenly distributes pressure, features an anti-reflective coating to eliminate glare from copy lights, and remains chemically stable, meaning it won’t off-gas or stick to a delicate film emulsion or glossy paper surface during the capture process.
