OCR-Specific Metadata: Structural data generated by character recognition software that maps out the exact location and meaning of text hidden inside an image. Unlike standard camera metadata (EXIF) which tracks how a photo was shot, OCR metadata records where individual words live on the page (using coordinates) and how they flow into lines and paragraphs. This allows search engines to highlight the exact word you searched for on a digitized page and lets you select or copy text directly from the picture.
