A universal software deployment and package management framework for Linux operating systems. Designed to streamline application distribution, Flatpak allows software to run consistently across various Linux distributions without modifying the underlying system. It prevents version conflicts and shared library issues by bundling an application’s required dependencies directly into the package. Furthermore, Flatpaks run within secure, isolated sandboxes and rely on standardized, shared base environments known as “runtimes” rather than the host system’s native libraries.
