Signal-to-Noise Ratio (SNR): The relationship between the actual visual data captured by your camera sensor (the signal) and the random electronic interference or pixel grain (the noise). In a digitization workflow, achieving a high SNR is critical. It ensures that subtle details in dense film negatives or dark shadows are captured as clean, sharp image data rather than being obscured by muddy, colorful digital noise.
