Dental Pick

Dental Pick (Precision Probe): A fine-tipped, rigid steel probe used in the workshop for delicate mechanical adjustments and gear maintenance. While it should never be used on actual archival media, a dental pick is invaluable for working on digitization hardware. Its sharp, angled tip allows you to carefully clear compressed dust or old grease out of copy-stand gear tracks, gently tease out jammed or stuck film leaders from vintage camera bodies, and scrape corrosion or oxidation off stubborn battery contacts to restore power to older gear.
