Parallel Alignment: The precise physical setup where your camera sensor plane is perfectly parallel to the surface of the film or artwork you are digitizing. Achieving exact alignment is critical when using a macro lens, as its shallow depth of field leaves zero room for error. If the camera or the subject is even slightly tilted, one side of your digital capture will be sharp while the opposite edge or corner drifts completely out of focus, introducing subtle geometric distortions.
