The “Relaxation” and “Sandwich” Method

Relaxation and Sandwich Methods: Practical techniques used to flatten curled or buckled film before and during digitizing. Because a flat film surface is critical for edge-to-edge sharpness, these methods solve the problem in two ways: Relaxation gently humidifies old, brittle film over a few days to make it pliable, while the Sandwich method uses specialized, anti-newton ring glass holders to physically clamp the film flat during capture, keeping the entire frame safely inside your macro lens’s tight depth of field.
