Vignette (Vignetting): A gradual reduction in brightness or saturation at the outer edges and corners of an image compared to the center. In a digitization workflow, vignetting introduces uneven peripheral lighting caused by lens properties or light fall-off. Left uncorrected, it distorts the accuracy of digitized film or documents, but it can be neutralized using flat-field correction software.
